Transition Class Overview
Christian parenting is both a tremendous blessing and an enormous responsibility. God has specifically charged parents (and fathers in particular) with the task of raising sons and daughters who know God and his law (cf. Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 20-25; Joshua 4:4-7; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4). To this end, the session of Christ Church is committed to providing you with resources that will aid you as parents in instructing your children in the ways of the Lord. We strive to offer the very best possible teachers and materials for learning in our children’s church, but this is only meant as a temporary structure until the appropriate time for the children to be integrated into the corporate worship service and worship together with their parents as a family.
To help facilitate this integration, we offer a yearly, eight-week course for young children that is meant to serve as a transition from children’s church to our corporate worship service. The course covers all the elements of the service and teaches the children not only what happens during the service, but also why it happens. After the eight weeks are over and the children “graduate” from the course, it is our hope that they will not only be able to be quiet and still during the more reverential corporate service, but will also be able to participate in a meaningful way along with their families.
